On Thursday, April 29, volunteers from St. Romain Oil delivered 1,200 jars of Peanut Butter to Ville Platte Food Pantries.
Since 2013, Corporate Works of Mercy Foundation's annual Y-Not STOP Hunger Drive raises awareness, funds and peanut butter for local families in need. Since the beginning of the drive, Y-Not Stop Convenience Stores have collected jars of peanut butter to provide to local food banks.
The goal of Corporate Works of Mercy's efforts is to aid local people in the communities that the Y-Not Stop stores serve. Since Ville Platte does not fall under the service area of the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Corporate Works of Mercy chose Ville Platte’s Christian Care and Share Center and Ninth Baptist Church Food Pantry to distribute peanut butter to their community. Each Ville Platte food pantry received about 620 jars of peanut butter. The 1,200 jars delivered are a reflection of the donations made at the two Y-Not Stop locations in Ville Platte: Y-Not Stop Ville Platte and Y-Not Stop Barber Spur.
